“If Facebook were a country, it would be the eighth most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan, Russia and Nigeria.”
Mark Zuckerberg
The problem is that this would be a country devoid of any means of production and almost little knowledge sharing. As a facebook user I can attest that I have learned very little from using the service. In contrast, I have read many interesting articles and increased my level of knowledge by using other services that have more openess and sharing (ie. tumblr, twitter, and digg).
Perhaps Mr. Zuckerberg should compare facebook to people magazine or a soap opera rather than a country. Facebook is one of the best gossip platforms.
(via ostermayer)
i think that ostermayer misses the point of facebook. facebook’s main purpose isn’t to share knowledge, but rather to socially network people, which is in fact more comparable to a country. countries are more based around the social links of the people than the knowledge shared within them.
twilight.
the book’s decent.
the movie’s bad.
the movie’s soundtrack kicks ass, check it out:
- muse - supermassive black hole
- the black ghosts - full moon
- radiohead - 15 step
and some other good stuff.
the best movies you will ever see
-breakfast club
-ferris bueller’s day off
-memento
-pulp fiction
-pan’s labyrinth
-anything by kubrick

I thought I might try something different today, making the blog more like a journal and less of a collection of random interesting stuff. Kind of like Nick does. The bold was just cool, and ripping off your friends is awesome.
sigh, some people have no respect for my creative ideas; stealing them and all.
i got to see wicked!
this totally made the whole trip worthwhile.
i’m not going to go into great detail as you should get yourself a copy of the excellent book on which it’s based or you can just go see the musical itself if you’re lucky enough to get a chance.
but let me tell you, it was excellent in almost every way. the sets were diverse and complex, the music was quite interesting as musicals go, and the story was of course brilliant even if it was abridged from the greatness of the novel.
considering my total hate of most musicals, this is a pretty major endorsement.
